At the Moretown, VT Gas-to-Energy Facility, in Moretown, VT, we performed compliance emissions testing on one G3520L Caterpillar landfill gas-fired engine for VOC, NOx, and CO. Pursuant to VTDEC request, we performed methane analyses using both USEPA Method 18 GC analyses and using a non-methane hydrocarbon analyzer. Based on past experience, we were able to address the concerns of the VTDEC regulator that the methane values obtained would be equivalent to the total hydrocarbon concentration values from the engine exhaust, and that this could be demonstrated in real-time by using the non-methane hydrocarbon analyzer. With excellent precision, the subsequent USEPA Method 18 lab analyses supported the real-time non-methane hydrocarbon data and thus the original claim.
